There was once a famous king .He had great riches and honors ; but he found , as many others had done before, that this things do not make people happy .He heard of an old man , famous for his wisdom and piety , who could tell what we must do in order to be happy . Therefore, the king went to see him .He found him living in a humble way, in a cave on the borders of a great wilderness. “Holy father” said the king, “ I Have came to you to learn the great secret how I may be happy.” The old man did not give a him an immediate answer. But he rose, and, walking out of the cave, asked the king to follow him. He lead him along a rough path till they came directly in front of a very large rock on the side of a mountain. On the top of that, a rock an eagle built its nest. Pointing to that rock, the old man said, “Tell me O king why the eagle has built its nest on yonder high rocks?” “No doubt,” said the king “the reason is that it wants to be out of the reach of danger.” “True said “exclaimed the wise man. “Then follow the example of Eagle.
Dear friends build your nest, make your home in heaven .Then it will be safe beyond the reach of danger and you will find peace and happiness all your years
When St. Francis Xavier preached in one of the cities of Japan some the multitude made sport of him. One man, more wanton than rest, went to him while he is addressed the people, pretend that he had something to communicate in private. Upon his approach, Xavier leaned his head to learn what he had to say. The scorner thus gained his object, which was to spit freely upon the face of the missionary and thus insult him in the most public manner. The missionary without speaking a word or making the least sign of anger, took out his handkerchief, wiped his face, and continued his discussion as if nothing had occurred. By such a heroic control of his passion, the scorn of the audience was turned into admiration. The most learned doctor of the city, who happened to present, said to himself that a law, which taught men such virtue, inspired men with such unshaken courage, and gave them so perfect a victory over themselves could not but be from god. So dear friends we must bear insult from others god will take care of them
